I have just read a new novel by Sharon Brownlie and I cannot wait to share my impressions. Betray is a thrilling, disturbing, addictive piece a modernist literature that combines elements of detective story and psychological novel. The work by Sharon Brownlie bears resemblance with works of other modernist female writers, for example she treats some marginal and shocking points like Elfriede Jelinek does in her novels; then, the central theme of growing up and becoming and being a woman in the modern world are also revealed in the novels by Doris Lessing and short stories by Alice Munro. If you want to get acquainted with modernist female literature, get Betrayal by Sharon Brownlie and you won’t be disappointed.
